Lilburn, Georgia, traces its roots back to the 19th century when it was founded as a railroad depot town in the late 1800s. Named after the general superintendent of the Seaboard Air Line Railroad, Lilburn Trigg Myers, the town grew steadily due to its strategic location along the railway. Its early economy was primarily centered around agriculture, with cotton being a prominent crop. The town’s growth was further fueled by the construction of highways in the mid-20th century, facilitating easier access to Atlanta, which lies about 20 miles southwest of Lilburn.
